Bottom Line:

Be sure to get in on listening to this album because it just might be the best one of Andy's career. Even if you aren't familiar with Andy's previous work, you'll still enjoy the twelve tracks produced by Frank Meyers. There's a little bit of something for every Country Music fan.

"Tattoo Rose" was released as the album's rock-infused first single and I'm surprised it didn't do any better on the charts. It's just a tiny bit different than some of the other singles he's released, but that difference makes it great because it means Andy isn't afraid to branch out. There's a hint of naughtiness as the man asks about the location of a woman's tattoo. Once she gives him a hint ("Just a little south of my Mason-Dixon tan line"), he asks if he'd be able to see it and she tells him no.

The second single is "What If It's Me" and is quite the opposite of "Tattoo Rose." Instead of a man out having fun, this time he is all alone and feeling sorry for himself after a breakup. Maybe he was selfish, maybe he didn't give her enough of his time. Everything is running through his mind as he tries to make sense of things.

There have been a few of Andy's songs that have truly touched me and on this album my pick for that honor goes to "Tears And Time." The song seems like it was written just for him to sing and he performs it with such emotional conviction. It's not just another slow song to fill a spot on an album; This one is something special. "So I cry and watch the days roll by. I miss the way you love me and I die down deep inside" is what he says, but even after going through those thoughts he knows things will be okay as the days go by.

"Shadows" is an appropriate title for such inappropriate actions being done by what seemed to be the perfect little wife. The husband felt like everything in was right in his world; His wife and his job. But when he arrived home early from a business trip he came home to intertwined shadows "down the hall, shadows in the bed, two shadows on the wall and now there's shadows in my head." No matter how hard he tries, those images of betrayal will be stuck in his head forever.

You can do anything you want while you ride in it, but don't even ask to take his car for a spin because the man will say "You Can't Drive My Cadillac." He will give her his heart, money, and anything else - but that Coupe de Ville is another story. I just love it when Andy shows off his fun side. You can't help but enjoy songs like this.

I was already familiar with Julie Roberts' version of "If You Had Called Yesterday," so it was nice to see what Andy could do with it. While the arrangement is pretty much the same, Andy's vocals provide a male perspective on things and automatically add a different feel to the whole tune. It would be great if the two could record it as a duet.

"Time Is A Gypsy" is a fine way to end the album. It's clever how songwriters Billy Thomas, Liz Hengber, and Rob Crosby managed to compare time to different things (a desperado that can't be caught, saying it slips away like smoke in the dark) and use such fantastic lines to go along with the comparisons. When you hear the song you will say to yourself "Why have I never thought of it that way?" After listening to the album, you won't be asking yourself why you bought the album - you'll just press repeat and listen again.
